According to the 2000 Census, New York City has the largest population of people from the African Diaspora of any city in the United States, more than 2 million within the city’s boundaries.

  • The Alliance produces systemic change by stimulating and supporting policy analysis and research that addresses critical issues affecting New York City’s African Diaspora.

  • The Alliance convenes with critical stakeholders to develop appropriate responses, solutions and policy advocacy agendas.

  • The Alliance’s efforts produce systemic change through the development of more responsive policies and initiatives, with the ultimate aim of improving social and economic outcomes for the Black community.

The Alliance recognizes private businesses and not-for-profit community organizations that are Black-led or Black-owned are critical actors in the stabilization of Black neighborhoods. They can provide needed services, employ local residents, thereby reinvesting in their communities.

  • The Alliance fosters institutional collaborations, encourages resource exchange and facilitates mentoring relationships between experienced and less-experienced leaders.

  • The Alliance sponsors leadership development training and offers networking opportunities among and between Black leaders in various sectors.
