Black Equity Alliance’s mission and values are rooted in the history and integrity of an African model: Achievement through Collaboration.

The logo for Black Equity Alliance is derived from several Ghanaian symbols known as “andinkra” or “adinkra” that the Ashante people have used for centuries to reinforce spiritual beliefs, values and standards of behavior. The symbols were originally used to decorate colorful patterned cloth worn only once at weddings and funerals. Today, the symbols are applied to walls, paper and other materials, but continue to be revered symbols of important beliefs and values.

The Black Equity Alliance logo is based on the marriage of several symbols, the metaphorical translation of which is: “When you work in unity for a good cause, authenticity and excellence results”.

The logo’s color is a soft organic green, which evokes fertility, growth, creativity and success. In the Black Nationalist flag, the use of the color green symbolizes the earth of the motherland, Africa, and in this context links people of African descent.
