Darwin M. Davis, President & Chief Executive Officer
 
Darwin M. Davis served as President/CEO of the New York Urban League from September 2002 through June 2008. Mr. Davis was the former Executive Director of the Human Services Council; a citywide umbrella of not-for-profit Executives which generally focuses on issues, affecting the delivery of human services. He was appointed the Executive Director in the fall of 1996 after eight years as Executive Director of Black Agencies Executives.

Darwin M. Davis has been a human services professional for 40 years.  A servant/leader and educator by training and change agent by choice, Mr. Davis has worked in a variety of nonprofits including employment and training programs, the NY Urban League, Union Settlement, and a variety of educational settings. Mr. Davis has taught every level between elementary school and masters programs.  His past teaching posts included the New School for Social Research, the National Urban/Rural Fellows Program and currently Columbia University’s Institute for Not-for-Profit Management. He is now applying these skills and experiences as a consultant to executives, government and private sector entities as each of them seek to deliver results on behalf of customers.   

Mr. Davis’ volunteer activities include the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, Black Agency Executives, the Human Services Council and others seeking to improve services and deliverables to individuals, families and communities and to the organizations that serve them.

Mr. Davis is motivated by bringing people together to meet the challenges confronting the human service sector and the Black community.
